My New Name

I have received and accepted a spiritual name and have changed my name. The process started in 2017 and culminated in July 2024.

I believe receiving and taking a spiritual name is a very meaningful and sacred process and not one to be taken lightly or frivolously. I believe it should be embarked upon only with clear guidance and with grounded reverence. This belief is why the process has gone on for me for several years before I fully accepted my spiritual name. The name is not new, but what has unfolded surrounding it, the intensity, and timing of it as now is. As I begin to use this new name it is not because my former name is a “dead” name or because “Jessica” needed left behind. It is in some ways the opposite: All the time I spent with the name Jessica will always be treasured to me. Jessica is at least as important to me as who I am today. She is the warrior, the fighter, the lover, the seeker, and the everything that made the birthing of this new name/new me possible. 

 

There is no split identity or even change of identity, rather the name Jessica can no longer be used to describe the fullness of who I am now. This has been and is both a purification and an Integration of Jessica/of all parts of me. It is the fullest expression of who I am and that encompasses Jessica. I am a clearer, purer, more full expression of my true essence and the name I have been given to describe that is Ammatara Noel.
